Top Links & Referrers
Understanding which links on your pages attract the most attention and which external platforms send visitors your way is critical for optimizing your online presence. The Leenkies analytics dashboard provides two dedicated sections for this: Top Links shows you your most-clicked page elements, and Top Referrers reveals the domains and platforms that drive traffic to your pages.
Top Links
The Top Links section ranks every clickable element on your pages by the number of clicks it received during the selected time period. This gives you a clear picture of what your visitors find most interesting and which calls-to-action are performing best.
What You Will See
For each link in the ranked list, you will see:
- Link title -- The display text or label of the link as it appears on your page. This could be a link block title, a product name, a booking button label, or any other clickable element.
- Click count -- The total number of times visitors clicked on that specific link during the selected time period.
Links are ordered from the most clicked to the least clicked, so the top of the list always shows your highest-performing content.
The list is paginated, so if you have many clickable elements across your pages, you can page through the results to see the full ranking.

How to Use Top Links Data
Your top links data is one of the most actionable pieces of information in your analytics:
-
Identify your strongest content -- The links that consistently rank at the top are your most compelling pieces of content. Consider giving them even more prominence on your pages by moving them higher in your block order or featuring them in a dedicated section.
-
Spot underperforming links -- If a link you consider important is buried at the bottom of the ranking (or not appearing at all), it may need a more descriptive title, a better position on the page, or a stronger visual treatment to draw attention.
-
Test different titles and placements -- Change a link's title or move it to a different position on your page, then check back after a few days to see if its click count improves. This kind of iterative testing helps you refine your pages over time.
-
Focus your content strategy -- If visitors consistently click on a particular type of content (for example, your latest YouTube video or a specific product), it tells you what your audience values most. Create more of what works.
Pro Tip: If you have multiple link blocks on your page, pay attention to the click distribution. A healthy page has clicks spread across several links, not concentrated on just one. If only your top link gets clicks, consider reorganizing your page so other important content is more visible.
Top Referrers
The Top Referrers section shows which external domains and platforms are sending visitors to your Leenkies pages. This data is invaluable for understanding where your audience discovers you and which marketing channels deliver the best results.
What You Will See
For each referrer in the ranked list, you will see:
- Referrer domain -- The domain name of the website or platform that sent the visitor to your page (for example, "instagram.com," "twitter.com," "google.com," "linkedin.com").
- Visit count -- The total number of visits that originated from that referrer during the selected time period.
- Percentage -- The share of total referred traffic that came from each domain.
Referrers are ranked from highest to lowest by visit count.

Understanding "Direct" Traffic
You may see an entry labeled Direct in your referrers list. Direct traffic represents visits where no referrer information was available. This happens when:
- A visitor types your Leenkies URL directly into their browser's address bar.
- A visitor clicks a link in a native mobile app (many apps strip referrer headers).
- A visitor clicks a link in an email client.
- A visitor uses a bookmark to return to your page.
- The referrer header was not sent for privacy or technical reasons.
Direct traffic is often a healthy sign -- it means people know your URL and are coming to your page intentionally rather than stumbling upon it through a search engine or social feed.
Pro Tip: A high percentage of direct traffic often indicates strong brand recognition. Your audience remembers your link and visits it on their own. If direct traffic is growing over time, your brand awareness efforts are paying off.
How to Use Referrer Data
Referrer data helps you make strategic decisions about where to invest your time and marketing efforts:
-
Focus on what works -- If Instagram consistently drives the most traffic, double down on your Instagram strategy. Post more frequently, experiment with different content types, and make sure your Leenkies link is prominent in your bio.
-
Discover unexpected sources -- You may find traffic coming from domains you did not expect -- a blog that mentioned you, a forum thread, or a partner's website. These organic discoveries can lead to new collaboration or content opportunities.
-
Measure campaign effectiveness -- When you launch a campaign on a specific platform (for example, a Twitter thread promoting your new product), check your referrer data in the following days to see how much traffic that campaign actually drove.
-
Identify underperforming channels -- If you are spending significant time on a platform that barely shows up in your referrer list, it may be time to reallocate that effort to a higher-performing channel.
Combining Links and Referrer Insights
The real power comes from looking at top links and top referrers together. For example, if Instagram is your top referrer and your product link is your top clicked link, you know that Instagram visitors are highly interested in purchasing. You could create Instagram content that specifically highlights your products to amplify that behavior.
