Header & Footer Blocks

Configure your global header with social links and your footer with copyright and custom links.

Header & Footer Blocks

The Header and Footer are special global blocks that appear on every page of your Leenkies site. Unlike other blocks that are specific to a single page, changes to the Header or Footer are published immediately and take effect across all your pages at once. This makes them the backbone of your site's identity and navigation.

Understanding global blocks

When you open the editor for either the Header or the Footer, you will see a prominent banner at the top of the settings panel that reads "Global Component -- Changes to the header/footer are published immediately and will appear on all pages of your site." This is an important distinction: while regular blocks follow the draft/live workflow (changes are saved as a draft and only go live when you publish), Header and Footer changes go live the moment you click Save and Publish.

This design ensures your identity and navigation remain consistent. If you update your bio or add a new social link, the change appears everywhere instantly.

Header block

The Header block sits at the very top of every page and is the first thing visitors see. It is your personal introduction -- the digital handshake that tells people who you are and how to connect with you.

Identity section

The Header's Identity section contains the following fields:

  • Profile Picture -- Upload an avatar or photo. The image is displayed in a square aspect ratio and appears prominently at the top of your page. Choose a clear, recognizable image -- your face, logo, or brand mark.
  • Display Name -- The name shown below your profile picture. This can be your real name, brand name, or any identifier your audience will recognize.
  • Location -- An optional text field for your location (for example, "San Francisco, CA" or "London, UK"). This helps visitors know where you are based and adds a personal touch.
  • Bio -- A short text description (up to 150 characters) that appears below your name. Use this to summarize what you do in one or two concise sentences. Think of it as your elevator pitch.

Social media links

Below the identity section, the Social Links section lets you add icons that link to your profiles on other platforms. Leenkies supports over 20 platforms:

PlatformPlatformPlatform
EmailTelephoneInstagram
FacebookX (Twitter)TikTok
YouTubeLinkedInSnapchat
WhatsAppTelegramDiscord
RedditPinterestThreads
WeChatLineViber
VKTumblrMedium
Twitch

For each social link, you select the platform from a dropdown and enter the URL or username in the text field. Social links appear as recognizable icons in your header, giving visitors a quick way to find you on other platforms.

You can add as many social links as you need by clicking the "Add Social Icon" button. You can reorder them by dragging the grip handle on each item. You can remove any social link by clicking the delete button that appears on hover.

Pro Tip: Put your most important social platforms first. Visitors' attention fades as they scan from left to right, so lead with the platforms where you are most active or where you want to drive the most traffic.

Footer block

The Footer block sits at the very bottom of every page. It provides a clean closing section with copyright information and optional additional links.

Copyright section

The Copyright section contains a single text field where you enter your copyright notice. This text is displayed at the very bottom of every page. A typical value might be something like "2026 Your Name" or "2026 Your Brand. All rights reserved."

Additional links

The Additional Links section lets you add custom links to your footer. Each link has two fields:

  • Label -- The text visitors will see (for example, "Privacy Policy" or "Terms of Service").
  • URL -- The destination URL that the link points to.

Click "Add Footer Link" to add a new link. You can add as many footer links as you need. Each link can be removed individually by clicking the delete button that appears when you hover over it.

Footer links are useful for linking to legal pages, external resources, or anything else you want accessible from every page.

Saving and publishing

Because the Footer is a global block, clicking "Save and Publish" immediately updates the footer across all your pages. There is no separate draft step for this block. Make sure your content is correct before saving.

Pro Tip: Keep your footer links minimal. One to three links (such as Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and a contact email) are usually enough. Overloading the footer with too many links can make it feel cluttered and draw attention away from your page content.
