Connecting Payments

Set up a payment provider to accept payments for products and paid appointments.

Connecting Payments

A payment provider handles all payment processing for your products and paid bookings. You'll need to connect one before you can accept any payments.

Supported Payment Providers

Leenkies currently supports:

  • Stripe -- Available worldwide. Payments go directly to your Stripe account. Uses Stripe Connect, the industry standard for platform payments.
  • Paystack -- Popular across Africa. Ideal if your audience primarily pays through local payment methods.

You can connect multiple providers, but only one can be active at a time. The active provider is the one that processes payments on your page.

What Happens Without a Payment Provider

Without a connected payment provider:

  • Products can only be offered as free downloads. No pricing option.
  • Booking types can only be free. No paid appointments.
  • Customers won't see a checkout option on your page.

Once you connect a provider, you can set prices on products and booking types, and customers get the full checkout flow.

How to Connect

Setup takes just a few minutes:

  1. From your dashboard, click Settings in the sidebar.
  2. Click the Integrations tab.
  3. Find the payment provider card you want and click Connect.
  4. You'll be redirected to the provider's onboarding flow to set up or link your account.

The Onboarding Process

Each provider walks you through a multi-step onboarding. You can sign in with an existing account or create a new one. The process typically collects:

Identity Verification

Payment providers are required by financial regulations to verify your identity. You'll provide your legal name, date of birth, and sometimes a government-issued ID. This is a one-time requirement and your information is handled securely.

Bank Account or Payout Destination

You'll provide a bank account where the provider deposits your earnings. Most providers support bank accounts in dozens of countries and handle currency conversion where needed.

Business Information

You'll be asked for basic business details like your business type (individual, sole proprietor, company, etc.), address, and a description of what you sell. If you're an individual creator or freelancer, select the individual/sole proprietor option. You don't need a registered business entity.

Onboarding Stages

Your account progresses through three stages, visible on the provider card in Settings:

1. Connected

The initial stage. Leenkies has linked to your provider account. The provider may still be collecting or verifying your information, so you may not be able to accept payments yet.

2. Details Submitted

You've submitted all required information and the provider is reviewing it. In most cases, this review is instant or takes just a few minutes.

3. Charges Enabled

Your account is fully active. You can now accept payments, and payouts to your bank begin on the provider's standard schedule.

Pro Tip: Most creators reach Charges Enabled within minutes of completing onboarding. If you've been stuck at Details Submitted for more than 24 hours, check your email for messages from your provider requesting additional information.

Additional Information Requests

Sometimes your provider needs additional info after onboarding, for example:

  • A clearer photo of your ID
  • Corrected bank account details
  • Documentation required by your country's regulations

When this happens, Leenkies displays a notification on your Settings page with a link to your provider's dashboard where you can resolve it. Your ability to accept payments may be paused until it's done.

0% Platform Fees

Leenkies charges zero percent platform fees on your sales. Every dollar your customers pay goes to your account, minus your provider's own processing fees. No revenue share, no commission, no hidden charges.

Provider processing fees still apply. For example, Stripe typically charges around 2.9% + 30 cents per transaction in the US (varies by country and card type). Paystack charges around 1.5% + NGN 100 for local transactions. These fees are set by the provider, not Leenkies.

Pro Tip: Factor your provider's processing fees into your pricing. If you want to net exactly $50 on a consultation, price it slightly higher to cover the fee. Many creators simply absorb it as a cost of doing business.

Switching Your Active Provider

If you have multiple providers connected, you can switch which one is active:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Find the provider you want to activate and click Set as Active.

The new provider immediately starts processing payments. Your other provider stays connected and you can switch back at any time.

Disconnecting a Provider

If you need to disconnect a payment provider:

  1. Go to Settings in the sidebar.
  2. Click the Integrations tab.
  3. On the provider card, click Disconnect.
  4. Confirm when prompted.

Once disconnected:

  • If it was your active provider and you have no other active provider, paid products will no longer have a working checkout.
  • Paid booking types won't accept payments.
  • Free products and free booking types continue to work normally.
  • Existing completed orders aren't affected. Customers who already purchased keep their access.

You can reconnect at any time by going through the connection process again.
