External Products Block

Showcase products sold on other platforms without needing Stripe or creating products in Leenkies.

External Products Block

Not all your products need to be sold through Leenkies. The External Products block lets you showcase products that are sold on other platforms -- like Gumroad, Etsy, Shopify, Amazon, or your own website -- directly on your Leenkies page. Visitors see professional product cards with images, descriptions, and prices, and clicking a product takes them to the external platform where they complete their purchase.

What the External Products Block Is For

The External Products block is designed for situations where you want to display products on your Leenkies page but handle the actual sales transaction elsewhere. Common scenarios include:

  • Products on third-party marketplaces. You sell on Gumroad, Etsy, Shopify, Creative Market, or Amazon and want to drive traffic from your Leenkies page to those listings.
  • Affiliate products. You recommend products from other creators or brands and earn a commission through affiliate links. The External Products block lets you present these recommendations as a curated product showcase rather than a plain list of links.
  • Physical products. If you sell physical merchandise through a platform like Shopify or Etsy, you can showcase those products on your Leenkies page even though Leenkies itself is designed for digital products.
  • Not ready for Stripe. You have products to sell but have not set up Stripe yet, or Stripe is not available in your country. The External Products block lets you display products and link to whatever payment method you prefer (PayPal, bank transfer, DM to purchase, etc.).
  • Products on your own website. You have a full e-commerce site and want your Leenkies page to serve as a curated landing page that funnels visitors to specific product pages on your main site.

How to Add an External Products Block

  1. Open your page in the page editor.
  2. Click Add Block to add a new block to your page.
  3. Select External Products from the block type options.
  4. The block appears in your page editor, ready for you to add products.

Adding Products to the Block

Each product in the External Products block is configured individually with the following information:

  • Product Name -- The name displayed on the product card. Keep it clear and descriptive.
  • Product Description -- A short description that appears below the product name. Summarize what the product is and why someone should buy it.
  • Product Image -- An image that represents the product. This appears as the main visual on the product card. Use high-quality images for the best presentation.
  • Price -- The price displayed on the product card. This is for display purposes only -- no payment is processed through Leenkies. Enter the price as it appears on the external platform.
  • Product URL -- The link where visitors will be taken when they click on the product card. This should be the direct URL to the product page on the external platform.

To add a product:

  1. In the External Products block settings, click Add Product.
  2. Fill in the product name, description, image, price, and URL.
  3. Repeat for each product you want to showcase.
  4. Arrange the products in your preferred order by dragging them.
  5. Save your page.

What Visitors Experience

When a visitor sees your External Products block on your page, they see a grid of professional product cards -- each displaying the product image, name, description, and price. The experience looks similar to the native Products block, giving your page a cohesive, polished appearance.

When a visitor clicks on a product card, a new browser tab opens and takes them directly to the external URL you specified. They leave your Leenkies page and complete their purchase on the external platform.

Pro Tip: Make sure the external URL you provide goes directly to the product page, not a generic homepage. The fewer clicks between your Leenkies page and the purchase button on the external site, the higher your conversion rate will be.

Key Differences: External Products vs Products Block

Understanding when to use each block is important for getting the right setup:

When to Use the Products Block

Use the native Products block when you want:

  • A seamless checkout experience that keeps buyers on your Leenkies page
  • Automatic delivery of digital goods
  • Full order tracking and revenue analytics in your dashboard
  • Professional checkout with Stripe payment processing

When to Use the External Products Block

Use the External Products block when you want:

  • To showcase products sold on other platforms
  • To display affiliate or recommended products
  • To link to products before you have Stripe set up
  • To create a product showcase without processing payments through Leenkies

Pro Tip: You can use both blocks on the same page. For example, sell your own digital products through the native Products block (with Stripe checkout) and showcase recommended third-party products through the External Products block. This lets you monetize both your own creations and your curated recommendations.
